All the big people the child sees around him are engaged in acts of insanity. Told in an almost childlike voice, albeit lucidly and with an underlying sense of humor.

The illustrations that parallel the author’s early drawings as a child are done in a style that, like the text, also combines the ingenuousness of infantile observation with the  memories of the frequent horror that displaced a normal childhood. Ages 8 to eternity.
