Dubya & Eddie
is a timely satiric parody of the George "Dubya" Bush administration,
lampooning its simplistic political thinking and dangerously misguided
foreign policy. Dubya & Eddie follows the careers of the
president and his pet coyote, his ultimate confidential advisor, in a
political system where well-heeled individuals and special interest groups
hold sway. "And the poor?" Eddie asks. Dubya observes, "Well,
they are legion and have almost nothing to contribute individually, so
they have really nothing to sell." This view also shapes Dubya's
policy on tax reform, which he feels "must be fair to the American people
– those who count." |

Eddie is a kindred
spirit and fellow Texan. The two hold secret meetings in the
bathroom adjacent to the Oval Office where a constantly flushing toilet
defeats the hidden White House recording devices. Eddie soon
acquires a profound knowledge of foreign policy, or what Dubya seems to
call "porn fallacy." Dubya explains how he has divided the world
into "spheres" for convenience. "There's Europe, Russian, China,
India, Islam, Africa – which is a big country like California."

Revealing a little known fact that coyotes
and other canines do get headaches, the author observes that Eddie
suffered from the three extra-strength Tylenol variety, which came every
time he tried too intensely to make too much sense out of what Dubya was
saying. This is both a literary
and a visual book. One page of text is followed by one satirical
illustration. |
